EASY LUXURY, Darren Palmer
So it is no secret. I have become a big fan of THE BLOCK. It’s an Australian reality television series where couples compete to renovate the best apartment/house. There are a number of design challenges along the way, but mostly it comes down to style, taste, hard work and managing a renovation budget.
I was never interested in the show until we bought a home and started plans to renovate. While my Husband is a painter, I’ve never built anything before and never stepped foot on a building site, so by watching The Block, I feel like it is actually teaching me a little something about what renovating will be like (kind of).
Each week the couples must renovate, style and present a section of the house to the three interior design judges, Shaynna Blaze, Darren Palmer and Neale Whitaker.
The focus of the book is all there in the title, Easy Luxury. Easy on the budget, easy on time, easy to enjoy. ‘Luxury must be comfortable, otherwise it is not luxury.” Does luxury have to be expensive? absolutely not.
This book is about demystifying the design process. EASY LUXURY is not about telling you how to do it, instead, the book explains what makes a good design and how certain problems can be solved.
Darren’s book includes both large- scale practicalities and planning right through to the elements of design.
Darren Palmer is a highly sought after interior designer, with a number of high-profile celebrity clients. The book features images from Jennifer Hawkings and Jake Walls’ home.
It’s a practical hands on guide when you need it, a coffee table book when you’re finished (it’s full of beautiful images) – or a wonderful gift for a new home owner.
Long after you have renovated and used all the ideas you can from the book, it will still be a gorgeous book to leave around the lounge room.
