swissinfo/Swiss Radio International (SRI) is an enterprise of the Swiss Broadcasting Corporation SRG SSR idée Suisse. Under the Swiss radio and television law swissinfo/SRI has a mandate to provide a service for the Swiss abroad and an international public interested in Switzerland. The company was founded in 1935. At first radio programmes were broadcast on short wave, with satellite coming later. The website www.swissinfo.org came into being in 1999 and is now the focus of operations. It provides news about Switzerland in the form of text, image, audio and video reports in nine languages (German, French, Italian, English, Spanish, Portuguese, Arabic, Chinese and Japanese). The top priority is news and in-depth information about politics, business, culture, science and education, tourism, sport and weather. It also offers a helpdesk dealing with questions about Switzerland, an interactive route map, a link database and many other services.

Our information is not just accessible via the website www.swissinfo.org. swissinfo content is sent weekly as an email newsletter. Information can also be downloaded or accessed via mobile telephone.

Through its S SAT R (Swiss Satellite Radio) department, swissinfo/SRI also offers special-interest channels via satellite and on the Internet ( www.radioswisspop.ch , www.radioswissclassic.ch , www.radioswissjazz.ch ).
