On Friday 1 December 2006 over 150 attendees had a sneak preview of the first Australian Synchrotron, before it opens its doors officially in 2007. Many thanks to our Swiss born key note speaker Daniel Häusermann - Scientist, Imaging and Therapy Beamline (ITBL) and the support from our sponsors the State Government of Victoria, SGS, ANBF, the Consulate General of Switzerland, Leica and CRC Biomedical Imaging Development.

We learnt about the many applications of a Synchrotron, especially the advanced X-ray imaging capabilities and exciting potential for cancer detection and treatment.
